Remove a watermark from a photo you own

Common legitimate cases: you have an old export of your own work with your watermark, a phone app stamped its logo on your picture, or you licensed an image and received a watermarked proof by mistake. Small corner marks remove well; large, semi-transparent watermarks tiled across the whole image are much harder because there's little clean texture left to borrow from.

How to do it

  1. Load the image in the eraser.
  2. Brush over the watermark, covering its full outline including any soft shadow.
  3. Erase. For a tiled watermark, work one repetition at a time.
  4. Inspect with the before/after slider and touch up remaining traces.
  5. Download — no new watermark is ever added.

FAQ

Is it legal to remove a watermark?

Only from images you own or have permission to modify. Removing a watermark from someone else's photo to use it can infringe copyright and, in many countries, break laws against removing copyright-management information.

Why does a big diagonal watermark still show?

The model fills the masked region from nearby pixels. When the watermark covers most of the image, there isn't enough clean surrounding detail to rebuild it convincingly.
